Coaches
Brandon D'Sa
Brandon D’sa started his first year of coaching water polo at Long Beach Poly High during the 2018-2019 school year. He started his coaching experiences with morning and afternoon practices that lead the girls to victory throughout their season. Although the girls didn’t make it as far as they hoped, D’sa is looking forward to upcoming seasons where the girls reclaim their moore league championship and their CIF championship.
Ryan Rockenbach
Ryan Rockenbach started his first year of coaching Poly Girls Water Polo during the 2017-2018 school year. Much like Coach D’sa he lead his Junior Varsity and Frosh team to victory by having a stable schedule of morning and afternoon practices that set the bar for his upcoming teams. As Rockenbach teaches his group of girls the skills of what it takes it to be a great water polo player he also teaches them what it takes to be a great person
Freshmen / Sophomore
Importance of being on a team
Unless your daughter has been on a highschool team before she will know the importance of what being a family away from your family means. The girls push each pther to do their best in and out of the water, they egin to love each other as sisters do and also begin to realise the team would be totally different without them in it.
Junior Varsity
Why it’s important to play as a team
JV players are usually sophomores and juniors, which happens to be the most important years of high school but what your daughter needs to know is that being on the team comes with two amazing things. One being if you play as a team and not just for yourself there is a greater possibility of her team winning. And the second being she will always have a family behind her. Being on the LBP water polo team automatically means she has a family that will love and support her no matter how many times she may mess up.
Varsity
Importance of a team
Being on Varsity means your daughter already knows what it’s like to be on a team, but wat they need to remember is why they joined the team in the first place. Joining the team allows the girls to find a part of themselves they didn’t know was apart of them but it allows them to be apart of a family that never gives up on them.
Harder Plays
Being on Varsity means your daughter is one of the best players on the team but besides that she is going up against the best players from differnt teams. With that being said, your daughter will learn harder plays that are a bit more complicated then what JV is learning but she will make it through.
Preparing for the big game
During season there is only one game that really counts the most. The Poly vs. Wilson game. This game is the most important game to the program but now only to the program but to Varsity as well. Varsity trains long hours to make sure each minute is focused on reclaiming their 2018 Moore League Championship tite.
Making it count
For most Varsity players it’s their last year at Poly. And Although the have that last year there th program strives to make it a good one. Throughout every practice, every game, every minute standing in a snack shack line, the air is filled with laughter, smiles and good energy. After every game, practice and many more events the girls come home with memories that will last a lifetime.
